Greg Norman said Tiger Woods has too many distractions now to maintain the focus he had when he won 14 majors in 11 years, and he doesn't think Woods will win another major championship.
Norman, who held golf's No. 1 ranking for a total of 331 weeks between 1986 and 1998 and won two British Opens, made the comments in an interview that will be published in the November issue of Golf Magazine. Woods's last major win was the 2008 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines, and he has not won a tournament since his Orlando car accident in November 2009 and the ensuing sex scandal. (Titleist 712 AP2 Irons

"Tiger, when he dominated, had a single-shot approach," Norman said. "It was only about the golf."
That's just not the case anymore, Norman said.
"Now there are so many distractions, and people are looking for things that are wrong with Tiger now, so he's got to deal with that on a day-to-day basis, like every other mortal has to do, right?" Norman continued. "In our lives, in our business, we all have to be responsible for our actions. It's very hard for him to have that focus. And the more he shuts people off, the worse it gets."
Norman is one of the game's most popular and outspoken players. While many people in golf have been careful not to write off a slumping Woods — current world No. 1 Luke Donald issued a clarification after he was quoted as saying "the Tiger era is over" and Jack Nicklaus recently said Woods could still pass his record of 18 majors — Norman said Woods lacks the "street smarts" to recover his game and his life.
"He thinks everything's OK because his world is so cocooned," Norman said.
"I've known Stevie Williams since he was 15 years old," Norman said. "I know the DNA of the guy, how morally and ethically straight down the middle he is with things. I think there's more to it." (Titleist 712 AP2 Irons

Norman advised his former caddie to hold his head high during Woods's scandals, something Woods has been unable to do, he added.
"Well, just look at his body language," Norman said of Woods. "He doesn't keep his head up anymore, he's got his eyes down. He's trying to keep his eyes away from the camera, right?
"It's like I said to Steve: 'Keep your head up, walk around proud of who you are,'" Norman continued. "Tiger can still play, and I think he'll win again. But he's not going to do what he did before."
No stranger to the gossip pages after his messy divorce with former stewardess Laura Andrassy and his brief marriage to tennis star Chris Evert, Norman said he thinks his experiences could help Woods.
"I'd love to talk to Tiger about it, guy to guy," Norman said. "The president of the United States [Bill Clinton], when he came to my house, wanted to talk to me guy to guy. We all put our underpants on the same way, one leg at a time. So we sit down and have a chat until two o'clock in the morning." (Titleist 712 AP2 Irons

Norman said he hasn't spoken to Woods recently, but he will see Woods at the Presidents Cup in Australia this November. Norman is captain of the international team, and U.S. captain Fred Couples has said he will use a captain's pick on Woods.

John Daly walked off the course during the second round of the Austrian Open on Friday after a dispute with officials over a ball drop and two-shot penalty.
After completing the 15th hole, Daly was told by referee Andy McFee he had dropped his ball in the wrong place after it landed in an unplayable position under a TV tower. Instead of accepting the two-shot penalty, Daly decided to quit. He was 4-over before the penalty.

Robert Coles of England shot a 7-under 65 for the best round of the day to share the lead with Joost Luiten of theNetherlands, Thomas Norret of Denmark and Gaganjeet Bhullar of India.
Daly was told of the problem when he was already at the next hole with playing partners Miguel Angel Jimenez of Spainand Martin Wiegele of Austria.
McFee came on the course and asked Daly to go back to the 15th and show him exactly what he had done. After Daly explained it to him, the referee ruled that the drop was too close to the position where the ball initially landed and penalized the American.
"When I knew it was not a serious breach I said 'You can carry on John'. But John did not want to do that," McFee told Sky Sports. "He said 'What's the penalty?' I told him it was a two-shot penalty, at which point he said, 'I'm done.'"
Daly shook hands with Jimenez and Wiegele before walking off the course and leaving the Diamond Country Club with his wife and son.
"I had tried to help him with the drop, so I thought for a moment that maybe I had done something wrong," said Jimenez, who shot a 69, five shots off the lead. "It definitely put me off for the remaining holes." (Callaway RAZR Hawk Draw Driver

Daly, who shot a 74 in the opening round Thursday, had three birdies and was 1 under after 13 holes on Friday. At both the 14th and 15th, he hit shots into the water.
Wiegele finished five shots off the lead.
"Thank God I was able to stay focused," the Austrian player said. "(Daly) played some brilliant stuff today, but unfortunately it ended in a negative way. These two situations made him explode."
Wiegele said he thought Daly might leave without shaking hands.
"But then he came to me and said that (we) were playing well and that he did not want to slow us down," Wiegele said. "He wished us good luck for the weekend and left."

Jose Maria Olazabal has blasted the big-name players who opted not to take part in the Vivendi Seve Trophy last week.
This after seeing Paul McGinley's Great Britain and Ireland team secure a solid three-point win, their sixth in a row, over Jean Van der Velde's Continental Europe in France on Sunday.(Titleist 2010 710 AP1 Irons
)
Olazabal, the current Ryder Cup skipper, realised that the event clashed with the FedEx Cup play-offs, but said he was unhappy that major winners like Rory McIlroy, Martin Kaymer and Graeme McDowell, who were not involved in the American event, had not made themselves available for the Seve Trophy.
Olazabal, a fellow Spaniard and close friend of the late Ballesteros, said the decision by the absentees to give the Seve Trophy a miss was disrespectful to his memory in the light of everything he had done with his Titleist 2010 710 AP1 Irons
for the European Tour, and then disclosed that the tournament would be moved to a different time slot in the future to ensure players had no excuse for missing it.
"In two years' time we are hoping this event moves to the same week as the Presidents Cup (between the USA and a Rest of the World team that excludes all European Ryder Cup players) and which follows the FedEx Cup, and if that is the case, there will be no excuse not to be present," Olazabal said.
"We all know how instrumental Seve was in the growth of the European Tour. I know the younger generation did not have the chance to play Titleist 2010 710 AP1 Irons
when Seve was around but we are here playing on the European Tour in many ways because of Seve ...
"Seve was instrumental in turning things around on the European Tour for the better and the younger players now on the European Tour need to remember that.
"They should make a little extra effort and make this event what it deserves to be."

It was close. Oh so close! But in the end, holing out with a magical chip for an unexpected birdie at 17 did it for Justin Rose.
It gave the lanky Englishman the closing level-par 71 he needed to earn an impressive wire-to-wire victory by two shots with his TaylorMade R11 combo set
over the pursuing Australian John Senden and earned him his biggest career victory ever at the BMW Championship at a wet and rainy Cog Hill Golf and Country Club in Lemont, Illinois.
It was big, this victory, because as the third leg of the FedEx Cup play-off series, it not only earned him more than a million dollars and secured him his place among the 30 who will go forward in to next week's FedEx finale at The Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta, it has also hoisted him into the top five who are positioned to win the four-tournament contest's $10 million outright if they win the Tour Championship.
Senden made a great fight of it going down the closing stretch and when Rose came up short of the 17th fairway after teeing off with a three wood, Senden, who had split the fairway with his clubs TaylorMade R11 combo set
and had a straight forward wedge into the green, looked set to draw level with Rose.
Instead Senden found a bunker guarding the left side of green and after blasting out and needing a six foot putt for par, he had to watch Rose cooly chip his ball onto the green and then punch the air in delight as it hit TaylorMade R11 combo set
and dropped into the hole.
That put Rose two up with one to play and a solid par against Senden's par gave the Englishman a 13-under 271 total and ensured he went on to claim his third and most important US PGA Tour victory.
"The manner in which I won this tournament rates as high as the best tournament I've ever won; if only because I did it going wire-to-wire," he said afterwards.
"I think mentally this is the best I've ever been in terms of being very under control with my emotions, being very calm, being very aware of the situation and feeling comfortable with it.
Rose turned professional at age 18 the day after finishing fourth as an amateur at the 1998 British Open but it took him 21 embarrassing European Tour events before he made his first cut.
Likewise when he joined the US PGA Tour with his TaylorMade R11 combo set
his career looked full of promise, but he never really realised his exceptional potential.
His had been a career filled with great promise but much of it unrealized - until he came through with two US victories last year.
He was something of a frustrated man when he arrived at Cog Hill, though.
He had claimed four top 10s this year highlighted by a third place finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, but it had been a trying see-saw season that left him outside of the top-30 bubble coming to Cog Hill.
For example, after missing the cut at the PGA Championship, he had hit back with an excellent sixth at the first FedEx playoff event, the Barclays, only to finish in a disappointing tie for 68th at the Deutsche Bank two weeks ago.

John Senden finished in second place in Sunday's BMW Champion showdown, but it wasn't enough to earn him an automatic ticket into the Presidents Cup.
Fellow Australian Geoff Ogilvy had accumulated enough points in the standings to edge out Senden and claim the 10th and last place in the team, despite finishing behind Senden in third place at Cog Hill.
But it was no real surprise.
The day had began with Ogilvy needing only a top 20 finish to sneak into the team, but Senden requiring nothing less than a victory to have any hope of securing a place in Greg Norman's Presidents Cup International team to play Cobra S2 MAX Irons
against the USA at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Australia in November.
Ten of the 12 places on both the International and United States teams were automatically decided on points following Sunday's final round leaving Norman and the American captain, Fred Couples, to each name two wild cards to complete their squads on September 27.
The International team is chosen from the world's best players outside of Britain and Europe.
In the case of the USA, Couples has already indicated that one of his two wild card picks will go to Tiger Woods.
"It would be lovely to get a surprise pick," said Senden, who will now have to rely on Norman's goodwill for a place on the squad.
"There's a lot of good Australian players that are just outside the mark, as well.
"But you never know. I would be proud to represent the Presidents Cup team if I make it by my Cobra S2 MAX Irons
."
Norman will have plenty of choice for his two picks, for along with Senden, fellow other US-based Australians Robert Allenby and Aaron Baddeley are expected to get serious consideration.
Fiji's Vijay Singh, who has not yet missed a Presidents Cup event, 2010 British Open champion Louis Oosthuizen, fellow South African Rory Sabbatini and Colombian Camilo Villegas are other strong contenders on Norman's short list.( Cobra S2 MAX Irons

The two squads which have already qualified are as follows:
The United States:
Matt Kuchar, Steve Stricker, Dustin Johnson, Webb Simpson, Nick Watney, Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson, David Toms, Hunter Mahan, Jim Furyk
The Internationals
Jason Day (Australia), Adam Scott (Australia), Charl Schwartzel (South Africa), K.J. Choi (South Korea), Kyung-tae Kim (South Korea), Retief Goosen (South Africa), Ernie Els (South Africa), Yang Yong-eun (South Korea), Ryo Ishikawa (Japan), Geoff Ogilvy (Australia).

How can Trevor Immelman get to the 18th green of the final round of the 2008 Masters and not know where he stands? It's called staying in the present, and it's a philosophy I teach all the players I work with how to use Callaway Razr X Combo Irons
. It means not allowing yourself to be seduced by a score or by winning until you run out of holes. Instead, you get lost in the process of executing each shot and accept the result.
Before Trevor teed off on Sunday with a two-shot lead, he decided he wouldn't look at leader boards. He had a plan: Pick a target, visualize the shot and let it rip. As Trevor walked up the 18th fairway, Brandt Snedeker put his arm around him and nudged him to walk ahead. Trevor told me it was the first time all day he allowed himself to think about the outcome. After marking his ball with his Callaway Razr X Combo Irons
he asked his caddie how they were doing. His caddie said he had a three-stroke lead over Tiger. Trevor said he went from being quiet and calm inside to thinking, How can I not five-putt this?
The worst thing you can do for your prospects of winning is to get down when things don't go well. If you start feeling sorry for yourself or thinking the golf gods are conspiring against you, you're not focused on the next shot. When Padraig Harrington won the British Open in 2007, he got up and down for a double-bogey 6 on the last hole to make a playoff after knocking two balls into the water. Padraig told me he had a level of acceptance that earlier in his career he didn't have. He said it never entered his mind that he might blow the tournament. His only thought was getting his ball in the hole so he could win the playoff.
Every time you have the urge to make an aggressive play, go with the more conservative one. You'll always be OK. In a tournament, the rough is thicker, the pins are tougher, and the greens are faster. The moment you get impatient, bad things happen.
The best example of patience I ever witnessed was Tom Kite at the 1992 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach. Kite had been 0 for 20 in U.S. Opens until then. On Sunday, wind gusts reached 35 miles per hour, but Kite didn't get flustered. On a day when a lot of players didn't break 80, Kite shot even par and won by two. In tough conditions, stay patient and let others beat themselves.
Not too long ago, I was working with this player who was struggling. But a couple of strong finishes by his Callaway Razr X Combo Irons
had him feeling better. At the next tournament he makes, like, eight birdies in the first round. Now he's feeling really good. He stops by the putting green to hit a few, and a player he knows walks up to him and says: "I don't know what you're doing with your putting, but that's not the way you used to set up." A few minutes later another player comes over: "You don't have your eyes over the ball the way you used to." Now my guy doesn't know what to think. He went from making everything he looked at to being a mess the next day.

Spearheaded by Simon Dyson and Jamie Donaldson, Great Britain & Ireland have regained the initiative at the Vivendi Seve Trophy with a 3½-½ Saturday morning greensomes win.
Having led 4-1 after the opening day's fourballs at St-Nom-La-Brethe in France, Paul McGinley's side had looked on course for a comfortable sixth consecutive cruise to victory.
But Jean Van De Velde's Continental Europe side hit back brilliantly on Friday to close the gap to one.
And now McGinleys men have come hammering back on Saturday morning with a resounding win in the greensomes to move into a 9-5 lead by Callaway 09 X-Forged Irons
.
Dyson and Donaldson, acting as GB & I's lead pair for the third time this week, took their impressive record to two wins and a draw with a 2 & 1 victory over the rookie European pairing of Nicolas Colsaerts and Matteo Manassero.
Dyson missed a five foot birdie chance at the second, but there was no let off after that as the duel reached the turn all square.
GB & I were the first to score after the turn when they with birdied the 14th and 15th - and this time there was to be no comeback for Colsaerts and Manassero..
Swedes Alex Noren and Peter Hanson picked up Continental Europe's only half of the morning when Ryder Cup star Hanson holed a 20 footer on the final green to cancel out the Darren Clarke-David Horsey eagle at the 17th.
Horsey's approach to two feet at the penultimate hole looked to have decided the match, but Hanson had other ideas.
Horsey had holed 20 foot birdie putts on the first two greens, although Hanson cancelled out the first with a five foot conversion following a brilliant approach by Noren.
Hanson and Noren, the impressive 5 and 3 winners over Ian Poulter and Robert Rock in Friday's fourballs, found themselves two down when, like Continental Europe's opening pair, they bogeyed the fourth with their Callaway 09 X-Forged Irons
But they birdied the eighth and ninth to turn all square, only to lose the next two holes in a topsy-turvy contest.
A birdie at the 12th and an eagle at the 15th pulled them level again before some late drama saw them deny Great Britain & Ireland a clean sweep.
In the third match out Poulter, joined by Ryder Cup and World Cup partner Ross Fisher, won by Callaway 09 X-Forged Irons
2 and 1 against Thomas Bjn and Rapha Jacquelin.
A birdie at the second put the English duo ahead, before Bjn and Jacquelin won the fifth and sixth to go one up, only for a perfect Poulter pitch to a foot at the next to level matters.
The 14th and 15th again proved the decisive holes, the English pair going birdie-eagle to win both and claim the point.

Chan Yih-shin of Chinese Taipei recovered from an opening double bogey to win his second Asian Tour title by Taylormade R9 SuperMax Irons
in the US$750,000 Macau Open presented by Cityneon on Sunday.
Chan's tee shot went out-of-bounds for double bogey on the first hole but he rallied with a massive chip in birdie from 40 feet on 12 before closing with two-under-par 69 in blustery conditions at the Macau Golf and Country Club.
He ended his campaign with a winning total of 14-under-par 270 and took home a winner's cheque of US$118,875 and a two-year exemption on the Asian Tour. (Taylormade R9 SuperMax Irons

David Gleeson of Australia and Thaworn Wiratchant of Thailand, both former Macau Open champions, shot matching 66s to finish in second and third place respectively for their first top-10 finish on the Asian Tour this year.
Chan's victory ended a poor run of form where he has no top-10 finishes since last October. However, he needed to overcome a nervy start where the lead changed hands between him and Mo Joong-kyung of Korea on several occasions.
He was trailing Mo by one shot after the turn but produced a magical run starting from his chip in birdie on 12 before adding crucial birdies on 13, 14 and 16 to cruise home with a wire-to-wire victory as Mo faded.
Mo signed off in tied fourth place after a round of 72 with Zaw Moe of Myanmar and Asian Tour honorary member Jeev Milkha Singh of India, who closed on identical 69s.
"I didn't know what to think after my double bogey but I kept telling myself to calm down. The pressure was there in the first nine and I felt better only after my chip in birdie," said Chan, winner of the 2009 King's Cup in Thailand.
"I didn't putt very well with my Taylormade R9 SuperMax Irons
in the beginning of the year and that was why I didn't get a good result. This whole week was the best that I've putted and I'm glad to be able to come out victorious," said Chan.
Gleeson eagled the last hole to complete a superb week where he ended a five consecutive run of missed cuts on the Asian Tour. The Australian credited a new set of golf clubs for his return to form, where he has enjoyed very little success in the last two years.
"I was just not comfortable with all my clubs Taylormade R9 SuperMax Irons
in the last two years. I thought I was getting weaker but it was actually because I had the wrong shafts on my clubs," said the two-time Asian Tour winner.
"That's a technical issue and once I felt comfortable with my swing then my game came back to me again," he added.

Golf's latest female phenom has no interest in teeing it up with the guys.
Being able to play full-time on the LPGA Tour is challenge enough for Lexi Thompson.
Two days after becoming the youngest winner on the LPGA Tour, the 16-year-old said she plans to petition for an exemption to the tour's 18-year-old age requirement. That comes as no surprise to LPGA commissioner Mike Whan, who said he will consider any petition from Thompson when he returns from the Solheim Cup, which begins Friday in Ireland.(TaylorMade 09 Burner Irons

The LPGA Tour's age limit is designed to protect players - both emotionally and developmentally. Golf isn't gymnastics or figure skating, where turning 21 gets you an AARP card. With most female players playing their best golf in their 20s and 30s, there's no sense in a teenager rushing to get onto the tour - especially if it might come at the expense of other parts of her life.(TaylorMade 09 Burner Irons
)
The LPGA already has shown a willingness to make allowances for Thompson, whose parents have carefully managed her development on and off the course.
She is homeschooled to accommodate her practice and travel schedule, but has ample time to hang out with her friends. She sees a lot of movies - "I haven't seen many good ones lately" - and spent the night before the Navistar began gabbing about boys with fellow teen golfer Janie Jackson.
And while she said winning her first LPGA Tour event was "way more exciting" than getting her driver's license earlier this year, she needed a second or two to think it over.
"I have the same lifestyle as a lot of high schoolers - playing sports, just working hard," Thompson said. "I have sacrificed a lot for this game but this is what I love." (TaylorMade 09 Burner Irons

Just look at what Rickie Fowler is doing for the men's side. Fowler is in only his second year as a professional, but kids are showing up at tournaments in droves wearing his flat-billed Puma caps and trademark orange shirts.( TaylorMade 09 Burner Irons

"I want women's golf to be more well-known and to be out there. It is amazing to watch how the girls play and how low they shoot," Thompson said. "There's a lot of great young players coming up and on tour. Fans just need to see it."
Golf tournaments are great competitive events where you can both have fun too as challenge your golf game together with other people. You'll find hundreds and 100s of golf tournaments held all over the world both for experts too as amateurs. Even neighborhood organizations have golf tournaments. (

)
Skilled golf tournaments are practically all held the same way. You can find two days of qualifying rounds following which the bottom players are reduce. Then there are two additional days of competitors. Each round is 18 holes.
Open golf tournaments, for instance the U.S. Open, are held to try and give amateurs the opportunity to break into the subject of professional golf. Golfers take part within a series of more compact tournaments to qualify for your Open where they move forward to the huge tournament exactly where they compete versus professionals. The last amateur to win an U.S. Open was back in 1933.
Amateurs also get the opportunity to play within the massive golf tournaments. The Masters Golf tournament invites the winners of many prestigious events to participate within the large one. That consists of the winner of the U.S. and British Amateur Championships.
Most local golf tournaments are held to elevate dollars for particular organizations or for charities. Anyone can participate and they can be very fun. The majority of the nearby golf tournaments are one, maybe two, day occasions and consist of one 18 hole round. Prizes perhaps awarded for skins, long drive, and long putt, to title some. A good deal of nearby golf tournaments are flighted - which means that participants are separated into lessons according to capacity. Several are also scramble or ideal ball format. (
)
When you really are a regular participant in golf tournaments, you are able to see why the pros love them so a lot. Even though you will not be getting the exact same huge paycheck they do, you may sure have a whole lot of enjoyable!
Alexis "Lexi" Thompson (born February 10, 1995) is an American professional golfer. At age 12, she was the youngest golfer ever to qualify to play in the U.S. Women's Open. She turned professional in June 2010 at age 15. On September 18, 2011, Thompson set a new record as the youngest-ever winner of an LPGA tournament, at age 16 years, seven months, and eight days, when she won the Navistar LPGA Classic

Lacking official status as an LPGA Tour member, Thompson largely had to rely on sponsors' exemptions to gain entry into tournaments. Her first sponsor's exemption was entry into the ShopRite LPGA Classic where she missed the cut by four strokes.
She played qualifiers held in Florida in May to gain entry to the U.S. Women's Open played July 8–11. She finished T10 at the tournament, +6 (73-74-70-73=290), nine shots behind winner Paula Creamer and collected her first professional check for $72,131.
Two weeks later at the Evian Masters, Thompson finished T2, -13 (69-72-67-67=275), one shot behind the winner, and made $242,711. After three professional events, her earnings were $314,842, which would have ranked 18th on the official LPGA money list if she had been a member of the LPGA Tour.
In December 2010, Thompson petitioned the LPGA to allow her to play in up to 12 LPGA tournaments in 2011 using sponsor exemptions instead of the six allowed to non-members by LPGA rules. In January 2011, Commissioner Mike Whan denied Thompson's petition, but announced that the LPGA rules would be changed to allow non-members to participate in Monday qualifying.
